Ramatuelle

A medieval village but the beaches very Jet-Set

Ramatuelle, le coeur du villageLocated in Provence in the department of Var, the village of Ramatuelle contrefort stands on a hill of Paillas at an altitude of approximately 130 metres. It overlooks the Bay of Pampelonne and the agricultural plain.

The legend tells that the people of Ramatuelle faced Saracens who wanted to steal their village. Having more ammunition, people were driving on the attackers blocks of rocks and threw their hive of bees. Even so, Saracens managed to settle on the lands of Ramatuelle. Some historians believe that the name of Ramatuelle could be derived from the Arabic phrase "Ramat'Ullah" which means "divine providence" or "Rahmat Allah", "the grace of God."

La plage de PampelonneRamatuelle has beautiful monuments whose church Notre-Dame, rustic Provencal style, the chapel Sainte-Anne, the door Sarrasine or a mansion in the village centre. The streets and houses downtown are very beautiful and very picturesque.

The municipality has many beaches including the famous beaches of Pampelonne, which causes each year a huge influx of tourists. The site of Cape Town and Cape Camarat Taillat, protected by the Conservatoire du Littoral for its rich flora is also on the town of Ramatuelle.

Noted the importance of vines in the landscape of Ramatuelle. All around the village, along the hills or on the plain, you will cross what is arguably the most beautiful vineyards of Provence.
