At the heart of the Montagnette, the abbey of Saint Michel de Frigolet is occupied by a religious community which depends on the College of Canons Regular of Prémontré. Founded by the pioneers of Montmajour, the abbey is subject to the Rule of Saint Augustin. The number of canons (13) was maintained from the outset, even if it had fallen to four during the Revolution.
