Sainte Croix du Verdon

At the edge of the most beautiful lake Provence

Sainte Croix du VerdonThe village of Sainte Croix du Verdon saw its destiny switch in 1973, when setting water dam that bears his name. Until then isolated on its rocky promontory, a somewhat forgotten perhaps before its valley, he suddenly saw the waters of Verdon bathe his feet. Tourism has obviously followed !

St. Croix du Verdon is built at an altitude of 525 metres, and has a hundred inhabitants in the winter. This village built on a hillside, largely restored in the best tradition of Provence, is of great elegance. In its streets, the eye focuses far around the lake which offers a splendid landscape.

St. Croix du Verdon has great beaches suitable for idleness, but you can also find all the water activities you'd expect. You can of course hoisted sail on Lake St. Croix, or walk to electric boat, the use of gasoline engines are prohibited on the Verdon, which will ensure the calm, and no pollution !

Please note that St. Croix du Verdon formerly St. Croix de Verdon. The name change was published in the Official Gazette on September 15, 2005.
