According to legend, Saint-Tropez owes its name to a grand officer of the court of Nero : Caïus Silvius Torpetius born in Pisa.
Converted by St Paul, it breeds anger of the Emperor Nero who is beheaded. The body is deposited in a boat with a rooster and a dog. The boat back the Arno and eventually ran aground on the shore of the future Saint-Tropez. The head of Torpetius is still preserved and revered in Pisa.
Saint Tropez is undoubtedly the most famous place on the French Riviera. Each summer, the town is taken over by tourists worldwide.
